Default Cleaning EGR valve 2003 Odyssey

I have the infamous problem with the EGR valve on my van. I know I can
bring it to the dealer to get it fixed, but is there a way I can just
remove it and clean it? It seems very easy to remove, but do I need to
replace the gasket? Nobody but the dealer sells this gasket.

The dealer should be paying for it, so why bother doing it yourself?

Ok, I agree. I will take it to the dealer next week. But the reason why
I ask the original question is because I am taking a trip this Columbus
Day weekend to upstate NY (about 175 miles) and I do not have the time
this week to take it to the dealer. I was just wondering would I be
having any problems using the van or will there be any ill effects?

When driving between 40-60 MPH under light throttle, engine shudders
and hesitates.

Odyssey has had a number of EGR problems well known to Odyssey owners (
www.odyclub.com ) The early models get the ports drilled out and a sleeve
installed. Later models had a problem with the EGR valve itself. Honda has
extended the warranty period on the Odyssey and Pilot (I think) so call the
dealer before spending your hard earned dollars......

An EGR problem would show up at low RPMs in any gear.

Update: cancelled the trip upstate this weekend because it's suppose to
rain.
Van is at the dealer this morning. Good thing I did not take the trip
because I was on the expressway this morning doing about 60 and I
really noticed the hesitation.
So is this a new design EGR, or is it the same kind which will give
problems again in the future?
