And are airfilter baseplates interchangeable.

the 36/40/44/48 Weber IDF, and 36/40/45/48mm Dellorto DRLA share the same
bolt pattern. However, putting a huge carb on a small intake will result in
the throttle plate hitting the insides of the intake opening, and putting a
small carb on a huge intake will result in intake turbulence (which most
people would never notice). There ARE intakes that are specifically sized
for the carb size you intend on using, but most people do not know this.
