Default CHECK ENGINE !! TRANSMISSION ?

I just traded for a nice '99 blazer. The "CHECK ENGINE" light is burning.
I had it checked this afternoon at an auto parts store. The guy said the
insturment indicated transmission ? But, that his reader wouldn't read any
more about it.
And, that I'd have to have it checked with a smarter reader.......... like
at a dealer.

Anyone care to suggest what I may be in for ??

I've noticed a harsh 1-2 shift ..... under slight touque.

Johnny

Have you checked ATF level, color and smell?

OK. I had the transmission serviced. The valve body was reamed and a new
valve installed.
New filter and fluid and now the tranny seems .
The cost for the job, including new parts, fluid, filter and labor was
$250.00
