errr, nother leak
i geuss i mesed up when i put the oil and water pumps on the new motor
because there were big leaks which i fixed, (btw getting the oil pump out without yanking the motor is a pain...the saddle, cross member, front sub-frame or what ever you want to call it has to come down, [not necesarily off, but down] ). if i ever have to pull a motor again i might drop it rather than pull it as the cross member does come off pretty easily...just a lot of work for an oil pump. any way, got those leaks fixed and was 35 - 40 miles out last night when the radiator blow its top...s* s* s* f* f* f*. we had dinner got a couple gallons of water and got home with lots of steam and turning the car off and coasting the last 15 miles. at first i couldnt see where the leak wazs and thought i had c.f.'d the water pump again...however, i discovered that the by-pass hose from the thermostat to the water inlet pipe doesnt not like to be rubbed by the re-rpouted super charger belt. i replaced it with a piece of straight hose, ( so i could get the car in for alainment and emissions), and ordered the correct "el" shaped one from partyka mazda in hamden,ct this morning. it was ~ $9 but it well worth it as a straight hose will work its way into the belt again. i also discover that the p.o. of the carhad the egr pipe remove either as part of the orig s/c install or when the header was installed...so the car fail emissions for nox... the saga continues... |
