Default One Headlight out - Need help diagnosing

My '73 Super's driver side low beam is out. It was off and on last
summer. It worked when it felt like it. Some times if it was out, I
could feel down to the fuse and jiggle the connection and it would
work. I pulled the connection and cleaned it with sandpaper plus added
some dilectric grease on the connection with no avail. I'm going to
try a new bulb this weekend. Anything else I should try before
attempting to replace the wire? BTW, does anyone know what guage wire
the lights use? Thanks.

Don't replace the wire; wires don't just go bad.
Worst case: check the crimped on end terminals and
replace those if needed.

Replace the fuse for that beam (there are 4 separate fuses)
even if the fuse "looks" good. And polish the fuse holder ends
as well. Remote possibility is that there is some fault
in the fuse block itslef (loose rivet, etc.)

I agree with Jim and
I also recommend pushing the fuse contacts closer together to make a
stronger connection. ;-)
Check the ground wire for the Headlight. It should be located near the fuel
tank secured by a screw.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a go this weekend. The electric portion of
auto repair is not my strong point.
