Help
I have a 98 Saturn sl2 4cy. It just started idling fast about 1100 rpm. Now
when I start it, it idles fast all the time. Any ideas? Thanks, Robin |

Check the temperature sensors. could just think that the engine is very cold
when in fact it is not. You should also be getting a rich fuel mixture which you should be able to smell before the cat warms up. Have diagnostics run. should show up a malfunctioning sensor pretty fast. "Robin & Sharon" > wrote in message ... >I have a 98 Saturn sl2 4cy. It just started idling fast about 1100 rpm. Sorry, no idea about specifics on that model. I have an L series which is
completely different. See if you can get a Haynes manual for your car. They're usually very good. I understand that 'pep boys' has a free diagnostic service. Never been there but sounds good. Just a note of warning about PepBoys. I got back my '98 dohc sl2 (>97k)
from PepBoys, yesterday. It needed a tuneup (spark plugs/spark wires/ignition wires/filters/etc), oil change, and the blinking battery light checked out. I asked for a free diagnostic, since I was getting all the above done. No can do at PepBoys (at least here in the SFBay area); it costs 100$ to do a diagnostic. Before the tuneup, the car ran ok, rough sounding, but ok all the same. On the way home, it stalled when I stopped at lights, idled high, really revved up, and finally died in the driveway. I had to call them to find out that they had noticed only 3 cylinders firing, but hadn't bothered to tell me. And _now_ they want to take a look at it and run a diagnostic. Caveat emptor with PepBoys. |
