They are the part, in Toyota's cars, that make the vroom-vroom sound,
and make the car move when you hit the gas with the car in gear.

Toyota is all over the place between interference and non.

Some are even non-interference until a bit of carbon has built up on the
piston tops, after which they become interference.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that the two types could be that
close to each other that some carbon build-up could flip them from one
to the other.

Nor did I, until I was told by a Toyota MDT (Toyota factory-certified
top-flight technician).
