Civic vs CRV
I was prepared to buy a 2007 Civic EX. I am in the fortunate position
now that my brother indicated he would pay the difference if I wanted a CRV EX. Now I am confused as hell. I like the Civic for the good gas mileage, the I am sure the CRV is a much better car, but does not get as good mileage. I only do in-town driving. Only about once a month do I travel 1-2 hours from home. |

If you only do in-town driving, and short trips at that, then frequent oil
changes are a must. Follow the minimum recommendations in your owner's manual, or "severe duty" cycle, whatever it says, especially if you live somewhere cold and damp. We have a Civic HX and a C-RV. Both are good cars. I wouldn't say that the C-RV is "better", but it is a bigger, more comfortable, more expensive car. It's almost like a minivan. It does use more fuel than the Civic. If you do not need the extra space, get the civic if you like it, and save the money. |

The CR-V will actually be handy in both, depending on what you do for a living / hobby. 'Curly' |

He uses less gas per month than I do with my Honda Civic Hybrid. If you don't drive much, the difference between low 20's in a CR-V and high 20's in a Civic won't mean much. -- --- Clarence A Dold - Hidden Valley Lake, CA, USA GPS: 38.8,-122.5 |

Civic vs CRV
I haven't gotten less than 32 mpg on a tank in this civic. If fuel economy is an issue, I find it hard to believe that the comparison is close between the civic and the CRV, I do however like the CRV and I will likely buy one in the next few months to replace the wife's car. -- BlackGT2000 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ BlackGT2000's Profile: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...?userid=336868 View this thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=700138 http://www.automotiveforums.com |

Civic vs CRV
The Civic HX gets 45 mpg highway, 40 mpg mountains. I can't tell you about
city driving because I don't do much of that. This model is no longer sold as the hybrid has taken its place. If you can find a used one in good shape and you care about mileage snap it up. According to the Nevada State Patrol it is capable of 127 mph too. "Dad, it was a long straight highway and I just lost track of the speedometer..." The government and manufacturers' attitudes towards economy are hard to deciper. Fuel prices keep going up and vehicle economy has made some progress, but it isn't as much as it could be. 30s are good to see, but 40s are attainable for most people's real needs, and you just don't see many 40 mpg cars on the lots. Unless you count the hybrids, which I don't. The cost of the batteries and controls, and replacement cost if you keep the car long enough, still negates the potential fuel savings.
