I've had to turn down the sound in GTL - the backfires just got me too
nervous

Once you've got everything sorted we'll have to arrange an American
muscle vs Brit GT session soon Mitch!

Scott,

I highly recommend the TrackIR. I couldn't imagine driving without it.
For me, the key to getting used to it was to make my own setup. The
stock setups moves your view too much with very little movements of your
head. So I made a setup that was less sensitive and it feels great.

I struggled and gave up with a TIR1, but recently bought a 4 for 3d
cockpit support in a flight sim. Maybe I'll get used to that with the
improved (but far from perfect) TIR4, but I doubt I'll get used to it in
racing sims.

It's great to lean forward, back, and look around in GTL, but boy, does it
screw up my cornering! I tend to look round the corner and forget to steer
enough. Years of using visual feedback to tell me how the cornering is
going are hard to overcome, and I doubt I'll try. I enjoy racing too much
as it is, and don't race online enough to make the most of the ability to
glance around intuitively.
