Default 97 stratus is shifting hard

I have a 97 stratus with a 2.4. It has just started to shift hard. Also the
auto lock function(which i previously did not have activated)is now locking
my doors when it shifts. Also the check engine light has come on.I havent
got the code number yet, but does any of this sound familiar to anyone? Is
there a modulator or sensor that would cause these problems? is it external
or internal in the tranny? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in
advance

If the speedometer is also dead, then it likely is the output distance
sensor on the tranny; these are cheap and not too hard to install. If the
speedometer is working then I would suspect the inputs sensor of the tranny.
Get the code though; most AutoZone's will do this for free, then look up the
codes on the net for definition. Good Luck.
