Default Daytime running lights module fix for 1998 accord

Hi,
My DRL module is not working properly. The honda dealer quoted $120 +
labour to replace this. I was thinking if it is a matter of
resoldering it I may attempt it myself.

But my haynes manual doesn't tell me where the module is located.

So any information about it's location and if it can be re-soldered
will be appreciated.

Thanks. The car is a 1998 accord dx.

Default Daytime running lights module fix for 1998 accord

Thanks Curly..

The symptom that I experienced was when I released the hand brake (my
car is a manual), usually an amber coloured DRL light on my dash
disappears and I can see the running lights shinning on my garage door.
Recently, I noticed that the dash DRL light stays on and the running
lights don't come on. I didn't trouble shoot it further as I thought I
can just turn the lights on by hand.

I took the car to the dealer recently for something else and he said
the DRL module needs replacing. I had always assumed it was some sort
of switch in the handbrake that was causing the problem, but he
insisted that it was the module itself. He also mentioned that I may
experience some other light related problems. I haven't tested my high
beams as I rarely use it. But I will.

Thanks a lot for your post. I will check under the dash and see if I
can do this myself.

Thanks a lot Homer for the link... It is exactly what I was looking
for. I appreciate you publishing this for all to see. Roshan
