Default testing car horn?

To test a garage sale car horn I connected a jumper wire to the positive
battery terminal and touched it to the spade connector while the horn was
sitting on the car body. It honked once and quit. Did I do something
wrong? The horn has "V. 12" on the housing next ot the spade connector.
The only other lettering on the case says "FIAMM".

I've taken the horn apart and can see no evidence of burns or fusing.

I know my car has a "horn relay" which I think reduces voltage or current
but to get at the horm wire to test this horn the bumper has to be removed.

thanks.

The horn is no good.

It prevents the horn's high current draw from damaging the horn switch
wiring and contacts.
