Default Error code 36

I checked the error codes on my 1987 coupe (thanks to the help of you guys)
and received code number 36. Much to my confusion, I was given two
different meanings for that code. One from the www.c4vettes.com website
said code 36 is the mass air flow burn off circuit, meaning a problem with
the MAF (easily fixed if that's the case.) The Chilton manual said that
code 36 is an ignition system circuit error or a transaxle shift problem.
Will someone please tell me what code is the correct one?

Many thanks,
Rick

Well you can rule out the transaxle shift code.

Good luck, (try the c4vettes)
