I can not find the fuel filter on my 2004 Ford Explorer.

I had no problem locating and changing the fuel filter on my 1999 Ford
Explorer.

Please help :-)

I saw the shield when I first looked. Was wondering if it was behind
it. I'm guessing I have to remove the shield in order to replace the
filter. Correct?

yepp, its kind of a PITA

Remove the alu shield (3 M8 bolts) and remove the bracket that holds the
fuel filter (m6 nuts)

Cant recall if you need the special tool or if they come with the plastic
clips

I think the special tools,
if you don't have those, get them first @ pepboys or similar,

DON'T TRY TO PRY IT OFF !!!!

I have the special tools already. Just have to find the right fuse to
disable the pump and depressurize the system before removing it.
