Default 2001 new beetle power window problem

I’m trying to repair the passenger side power window. The cable is
twisted and resembled a plate of spagetti after I got inside the door
panel and took a look. Problem is I can not remove the inner panel of
the door to get to the window. What do I need to do to get in there?
While searching last night I saw that this has happened to other NB
owners. Was there a recall for this? We just spent over $700 for a
new water pump for this car and can’t afford another expensive repair.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Kelly

Wrong group, but I have a NB so here's the scoop.

The window regulators in these cars are notorious for problems. VW has placed a 7 year warranty on them. Ring up a VW
dealer and look into this. The one caveat I am not positive on is if this warranty covers subsequent owners.
