Default starter bushing

How can i remove the starter bushing without getting the vw puller tool????
please help

I just removed one last week. I used a 1/2" tap. Just keep threading the
tap in until it bottoms out, and then the bushing will start to back itself
out. Worked great, and was fairly easy.
