and the comments,
Government Motors - Way to go! 1/21/2011 11:12:00 AM
That will create how many new jobs in the US? Tomorrow, Obama wil say
that created 500K more jobs here. Way to go guys! Strike another blow
for the Socialists party!
GM and engines built in Mexico 1/21/2011 11:18:00 AM
And where are the stimuls dollars that could have been used to keep
these jobs and engines in the USA??
GM To Build Engines In Mexico 1/21/2011 11:26:00 AM
Perhaps Mexico can bail GM out next time they get in trouble.
Invest in Mexico's Jobs 1/21/2011 11:35:00 AM
WHO bailed GM out? Who do they still owe billions of dollars to?
American Taxpayers or Mexican Taxpayers. Hey, Obama. Why didn't you
recommend China for this?
This is how they thank us? 1/21/2011 11:42:00 AM
The American taxpayers bail them out and they reward us by creating new
jobs in Mexico?
Mexico 1/21/2011 11:46:00 AM
This is creating jobs in the US?
enough is enough!!! 1/21/2011 12:02:00 PM
They took our tax dollars, without asking us, and gave it to GM to keep
them from going broke and to save and create jobs in the US. Isn't that
what they said? And now they take our money and build a plant to build
engines and create 500 jobs in Mexico. Does anyone besides me have a
problem with this?
GM, is a U.S. co? 1/21/2011 1:23:00 PM
Way to go, so they stel $60 BILLION from us, and build modern factorys
in Mexico! Why didn't Mexico give them $60 Billion? We have to be the
dumbest country going. I wouldn't buy a GM product ever, , if it was
given to me, I'd sell it. Besides being junk, when I had company GM
vehicles, they take the people's money and expand in Mexico. When
experts run things, all us dummies just don't understand.
GM Expansion in Mexico 1/21/2011 1:50:00 PM
Is this were the bailout of Gm is going- to Mexico? What happened to US
expansion?
Obamath 1/21/2011 1:54:00 PM
We bail out an industrial failure, they move jobs to Mexico, and then
send the end product back to sell the the unemployed auto workers. Out
of 1.86 million cars exported, 1.27 million returned to compete with US
manufactured vehicles. And BHO says this is good for our economy???

Where do you get this old stuff?

GM's been building engines in Mexico for years. Specifically in Silao and
Ramos Arizpe.

Anybody who knows how to use Google can find this out.

In the Summer time of 1992, (maybe it was in 1993, I don't remember
exactly, I brought a Monterey newspaper back with me, I can look up the
date on that newspaper) when I went on vacation, I visited Mexico for
five days.Near Saltillo,Mexico I drove right by a GM factory and next
door to that factory was a Dodge factory.

Mexico has been very industrially active for decades. Dont even suggest
that the people there are not capable of making excellent machines.. They
are! There is no difference basically between American laborers, South
American laborers, European laborers.

They can make cars, pharmaceuticals, etc every bit as well as an American,
given that the company itself is competent, and that they train they workers
and work toward a quality standard.

Yes there is. It is called wages. If they demanded the same pay as here
there would be zero point in building in Mexico.

That is not a difference in the laborers. That is a difference wages,
and having low wages does not cause a poor product, nor does having
high wages guarantee a good one (ref. GM).

I move some items manufactured in Mexico. Quality is excellent and
the price is somewhat lower than would be available here. Now, if
I wanted to put in a plant here, and pay the millions extra that
governmental
regulations would cost, and if I wanted to tolerate American labor costs,
unions, and laws, I couldnt compete with old line established companies.

I could, however, make the same products.
