Default silly antenna question

Not much audio-related is in the manual. My '92 Civic looks like it has
2 antennae. One is the slide-up (?) kind where when you're driving and
going in the carwash, just reach up with your left arm and slide it
down into the slot, and the second is on the top of the back windshield
held in by silicone and possibly screws? There's a wire that tucks into
the headliner just inside the glass. What's the deal? Can I remove the
back one? There is no antenna sticking up from it at all. Looks like
maybe an old cell phone antenna or something. Any ideas? I just want to
get rid of the one that's not useful. TIA

And BTW, I gotta say that this NG, outta all the ones I post or lurk,
has probably the most useful info without silly flamewars and
bitchiness. Some home repair groups are pretty good too. Have a cold
one on me!
