I can't disagree with your assessment on the propriety of these criminal charges... but I think you might want to consider refraining from adding unnecessary details about the handling characteristics of trucks and/or the education of truck drivers, subjects with which you appear to be unfamiliar. I think most truck drivers operate in an unsafe manner for the same reasons 4-wheelers do; they don't know any better and/or they think their skills are sufficient to always prevent a collision and/or they think they can always accurately predict the future and/or they think "it will never happen to them"... based on their experience that they've always gotten away with it in the past. Sadly, the vast majority of both groups seem to always ignore the clues that about 100 people/day don't get away with it. Manslaughter charges against a truck driver have no effect on truck drivers who aren't already aware that driving a truck is a dangerous endeavor and that they are subject to further civil litigation, even in the event of a crash deemed to be the fault of the other driver. Figger that out. ----- - gpsman |
