Default E46 prewired for telephone ...

Hi,

My '00 323iT (US) is prewired for telephone. User's manual say's it is
hooked to audio system and it has things like microphone are already
installed. What else does it mean?

I'm moving to Europe and I'm taking my car with me. In my destination, cell
phone hands-free kits are mandatory. Instead of purchasing & installing 3rd
party hands-free kit, could I possibly use pre-wiring for that purpose?
Could turn prewriring into a hands-free kit? Or can I buy a BMW cell/car
phone?

Not on a 2000 USA version. The prewiring just means that you can get the
kit and telephone for installation. But for that for that vintage of a car
even if you could still find the components you probably wouldn't do it
anyway as they are quite expensive.
