Default Restart stalling on '99 Accord ULEV-4

Hi, bought my son a used '99 Accord ULEV 4 cylinder automatic with
about 116K miles on it earlier this year. Car has been fine in all
regards. Except one:

If the car is fully warmed up, and you shut it off - then restart it
within approximately 10 minutes, it will start fine, then it runs for
about 5 seconds, then it stalls.

For example, if you stop to get fuel. Start it back up, it revs...runs
at idle for about 5 seconds, then stalls. If you feather the throttle
immediately after starting it, you can get it to stay alive.

My son also tells me that if he revs the engine in neutral, as it comes
down it will "bounce" to a very low RPM, start to stutter as if it will
stall, then it "catches" and idles okay.

What should I look at first?

Thanks,
Randy

Wierd. Is the coolant level in the RESERVOIR up to the MAX mark (in
addition to the rad full to the top, of course)? Has it ever had a valve
adjustment? You're not 'topping-up' the gas tank, are you?

try cleaning out throttle body, could be carbon, curd build up in the
throat. Get some cleaner for throttle body, see service manual for
details.

might also try a tune up, change plugs, dist cap, rotor.

Coolant is okay...never had a valve adjustment...not topping off the
tank. But, it does act in a similar way to the old 'vapor lock'
syndrome we used to see in vehicles with a carburetor.

Good point on the throttle body...it's also due for plugs/cap/rotor
(but runs very well otherwise, so no indication that it is out of
tune).

I'll try the basics as you suggest and see if it helps....thanks...

Run two tanks of Gasoholthru it. You might see a difference.
