Default Touring With Mid 90's Land Rover Discovery

Does anyone have any experience with touring / long distance trips in a
mid 90's Land Rover Discovery? Reliability, ride and gas mileage are a
few of the concerns, I guess. I haven't sat in one, but it seems to
have good visibility.

One web site states that it gets around 12/16 MPG, and has a 23.6
gallon fuel tank. That translates to 377.6 miles per tank, including
the reserve. I thought that it is common to get at leat 400 miles per
tank before hitting the reserve. My main concern on that is not the
cost of gas, but the frequency that you need to fill up.

Thank you in advance ...
