Alfa 156 Key
I have a 2001 Y reg UK Alfa 156.
The key fob has a button for opening the boot and one for the central locking. The central locking button now doesn't work (the LED doesn't flash when the button is pushed). A small metal/plastic part fell out and I'm guessing that it is causing the problem. Has anyone opened the key fob and if so how - there's a small screw under the ALfa badge but I can't seem to open the fob. Oh and one other thing - should I have a red key also (I don't have one). |

Mick, there are 2 keys.
One with a fixed key and one with the "switch blade"key. Fixed key: ======= - At the bottom side under the Alfa logo, there is a notch. - Use the notch to split the 2 housing parts. - The battery lies open to be exhanged. Switch blade key: ============ - Let the key switch open - Now you see something that looks like a small screw but in fact is the top of a pin - Look carefully and you will see the words "lock" and "unlock" - Turn that screw/pin to align it with "unlock" - Take a small screwdriver and pop the lid up (appox 1/4" left of the screw you can easily get under the lid) - This lid is a kind of container with the battery in it. I can mail you a scan of my manual with a picture if you send me your email adress Good luck -- Ciao from Holland AlfistaGJ (Gert-Jan) Alfa red 156 SW 1.8 Madeno tuned (2000) Golden Montreal 1428700 (1973/4) "mick" > schreef in bericht m... > I have a 2001 Y reg UK Alfa 156. > > The key fob has a button for opening the boot and one for the central > locking. > > The central locking button now doesn't work (the LED doesn't flash > when the button is pushed). Early 156 came with two red keys (both identical). Later 156 came/come with two black keys (both identical) now flipout type. The black keys have the remote boot/tailgate release function, the early cars with the red keys have a simple cable release for the boot, so no remote release. The black keys were introduced with the 156 Sportwagon. -- David C 156 Selespeed sp3 + Brembo conversion |

It may seem obvious but have you checked the battery? It is released by a screw underneath the blade. You don't need a red key its all in the alfa database and they charge you to tell you your key data. Let's hope you don't need a new key because it cost me an arm and a leg when I lost mine! -- Best regards Rick |
