Default 1990 325i, worn valve stem..

My recently accuired 231K mile 325i had a noisy valve till warmed up.
Real noisy. Quiet when it's warm. Runs well, no smoke at all, starts
easy, seems to have good power, clean internaly as far as I can tell.

In a perfect world I'd pull the head, install a good rebuild(for as
much $$ as the car is worth probibly, but hey). However I'm on a
shoestring budget right now.

I have several options more or less.

I work at a salvage yard. I can get a lower than mine mileage head
from work for little to nothing, stick valve stem seals in it and go.

I can save up and do the above but have someone local put guides in it,
and hope they know what there doing(this really worries me).

I can buy a new valve, retainer and keeper and such, a set of stem
seals, and insert said new valve in my seemingly in good shape head and
keep on trucking.

I'm leaning toward the latter myself. I know my head, trust it more
than one from the yard.

Not a real good start to my e30 ownership, eh? This is also the first
gas engine vehicle I've owned and driven daily in almost a decade.
This is not confidence in enspireing, but the engine can't help it if
someone did not maintain it properly.
I look foreward to any advice.

rex

ps: it's the exhaust valve on cylinder 6, eccentric adjuster looks to
have been replaced already to get a little more time out of it..
