Today's tail of the sloth. I had to wait, not 1, not 2, but 3 cycles at a
light. Why? You ask, well the first one was a given, too many people
queued up with the slow acceleration around here. However some dufus in
focus stops short. He lets in not one, not two, but THREE vehicles from a
nearby driveway. Over the course of the red signal. Oh, but he wasn't done
yet, not just because the empty space was now full. The light turned green
and out of the driveway comes another... down the left turn lane it
goes... focus driver just sat there to let in a FOURTH! Then he
slotherates. All the people he let in get through, he gets
through. The car behind him gets through. The next car is driven by a
bigger sloth who managed to fall 3 car lengths behind.... Who then
stopped on a fresh yellow making me, and everyone behind me wait for a
THIRD cycle.

So to those in this group, who think that behavior doesn't cause
congestion doesn't cause traffic to build up at traffic lights, this is the
picture from 3 cars behind you. You were so courteous letting those
people in, who weren't even there yet for the 1st cycle I was there
for (not to mention yourself). So nice of you to allow them through with
one cycle of waiting or less. But what about the people behind you, the
ones you leave there for yet another red signal? Where's your courtsey
to them?

Next time I'm going into that parking lot and coming back out so you'll
let me in front of you. It will be a shorter wait.

<snip a terrible tale of woe>

I'll let in one person in front of me, tops, and that depends on the
situation.

I will let other people in if they make it clear they are turning left in
front of and will not be getting into a queue that will slow everyone else
down. Also, if someone makes it clear they're shooting for the (often
empty) left-turn lane, I'll let them in as again they won't be jumping the
queue by doing so.

Like the enabler at the same intersection yesterday who let one person
in, who then blocked the lane for a significant portion of the green
signal.

That would be like the one let in yesterday... they just linger in front
of traffic waiting for a gap on the other side of the road or whatever as
the light turns green and burn up a good portion of it or all of it if
there is a goodly amount of on coming traffic.

I've seen people force their way all the way over to the turn lane, then
decide they didn't really want to turn left and force their way back...
And someone let them. I've also seen people hole shoot from the left
turn lane.
