Someone talk me out of it......
But I'm being drawn towards a 166.
Just can't argue with the VFM, 99V, 75k miles, FSH, 2lt TSpark, appears fully loaded - satnav, heated seats, etc..... (might be standard, I suppose) £2295ono from a dealer, ffs! The 166 doesn't deliver the joy of the 164 but, never-the-less, ... -- PeterMcC If you feel that any of the above is incorrect, inappropriate or offensive in any way, please ignore it and accept my apologies. |

Only if I can pick the tyres. [1] I've done more ****e old Alfa and Fiat buying that most people have had hot dinners..... not sure about the clutch, though. If it's working, that's fine by me. They go OK in a 156, and the 164 managed OK on the old 2lt. I'm not looking for something to set the world on fire, just something loaded with kit, comfortable, and long lasting for commuting and stuff. I have the 75 and the bike for when I want to have fun. -- Steve H 'You're not a real petrolhead unless you've owned an Alfa Romeo' http://www.italiancar.co.uk - Honda VFR800 - MZ ETZ300 - Alfa 75 TSpark Alfa 156 2.0 TSpark Lusso - Fiat Marea 20v HLX - COSOC KOTL BoTAFOT #87 - BoTAFOF #18 - MRO # - UKRMSBC #7 - Apostle #2 - YTC # |

So I would think it should go quite well. After all, who buys a sports car when they want heated seats and sat nav. Well, the 147 weighs in at about 2756 lbs (1250 Kg) while the 166 weighs in at 3285 lbs (1490 Kg). or more than 500 lbs (226 Kg) difference. I'd say that's significant. > John,UK. -- George Graves The health of our society is a direct result of the men and women we choose to admire. |

I'd > say that's significant. It's quite a significant weight penalty, but I'd argue that the 2lt TS lump is more than adequate in a 147 or even a 156. Yes, it will be blunted in a 166, but as I say, I want a comfy barge. I'd love a V6, but it would cost me around £100-£150 / month extra in petrol, and we never got the 2.4JTD variant :-( If I could find a reasonably priced 156 2.4JTD I'd be tempted, but they're quite rare and very sought after. So, that brings me back to either a 156 TSpark, which would be a bit pointless, as we already have one, or a 166 TSpark. -- Steve H 'You're not a real petrolhead unless you've owned an Alfa Romeo' http://www.italiancar.co.uk - Honda VFR800 - MZ ETZ300 - Alfa 75 TSpark Alfa 156 2.0 TSpark Lusso - Fiat Marea 20v HLX - COSOC KOTL BoTAFOT #87 - BoTAFOF #18 - MRO # - UKRMSBC #7 - Apostle #2 - YTC # |

Well, if you don't make a decision soon someone else will be in there and doing a deal. Offer them 1750, see what they say. It's cheap at the asking price and worth a punt in my view. |
