Because they are putting Starforce protection drivers in it. Even the
freaking demo has Starforce in it. I didn't buy HL2 because of Steam
and I certainly won't buy anymore games with Starforce after buying
Toca2. I classify Starforce as a Trojan. Look it up.

Agreed, Steam sucks!! Just got HL2 yesterday. It IS very cool!! The over
rated multi-player part will never be used by me though. Multi is the LEAST
important part of any game, IMO.

As much as I hate Steam it isnt nearly as bad after a few levels of HL2.
Took me a few levels to get out my aggression over having to install steam
in the first place. Id be more ****ed at myself if I didnt get HL2 because
of steam.

Starforce isnt nearly as offensive as Steam either.

Never even noticed it on my system - it doesn't change anything or harm me
or my PC and if it means that good developers get some hard earned cash then
good for them.

You can remove Starfoce with a removal tool, as I have, but the next
time you go to play a Starforce protected game the hidden protection
drivers get reinstalled.

Some people have reported that Starforce screws up Nero somehow. I use
Nero.

It is to me. I'm sick of these copy protection schemes screwing with
people's computers. Starforce is a hidden driver that can be found by
looking in device manager and showing hidden devices. It has been
reported to screw with Nero cdrom burning software, which I use. To
put it bluntly - I'm just sick of these ****tards and their copy
protection schemes and they can go **** themselves.

I also use Nero on my lone Win box. Version 6.6 Ultra. No issues on either
CD or DVD burner with Starforce. What exactly is your issue?
