Default I screwed up trying to install a stereo

Hello, I thought I would install a stereo like I did in my 95 SW2 a
few years back.

I currently have a 97 SW1 and thought it would be a similar deal.
First off I tried to get the GM wiring harness but both my local
Walmarts only carried the one that said for GM vehicles 94 and up. I
thought it would be the one but turned out it wasn't. In my impatience
I decided I would do like I did last time and cut the wires and use
the wire codes found on the net and splice them together (bad move I
know....). I used these codes...

I got it together and had a green and brown wire to spare. The radio
did not power on and then I realized that my ignition would turn over.
Now I can't start my car. I tried re-harnessing the old wire harness
back together again but still no luck. The dashboard lights still come
on and the headlights still work but no ignotion and no interior
light, unless I cross the ignition and battery wires...

I really am at a loss here and I guess I will have to have the car
towed to the dealership tomorrow. I feel quite foolish.... I figured I
would ask anyone here if maybe there is any suggestions about what may
have happened??

I checked the fuses and they are all fine. I know I went about this in
a rather stupid way by not just finding the proper wire harness to
begin with, but too late, here I am with no working vehicle. A big
inconvenience to say the least. So feel fre to tell me how lame I am
but at the same time maybe offer some helpful tips as well.

thanks for reading...

Bill

The best source for wiring diagrams is http://www.the12volt.com/ . Sorry
it's probably too little too late for you.
