I can bet you that the majority of the people involved (not fans) would like
a new # and Sponsor. All his fans will have to buy new merchandise.

Yeah, this is really important to me too. Forget about the fact that we're
fighting a losing war in Iraq and that some are pushing for a war with Iran.
As long as Dale keeps #8, I'll be happy.

No matter what # he may have the talk is that his sponsor will be Nike with
Bud as a secondary sponsor (maybe a Busch car in the JR Motorsports stable).
Childress will keep the #3 under wraps for a while with JR maybe driving it
later in his career. As far as the #8 is concerned, that is up to the evil
stepmother. With their present relationship I would doubt that she will
release it no matter what the fans want.

Jr. doesn't want the #3, and I fully understand and support his reasons for
it. Like he said. Maybe 15 years from now, when his career is winding
down. Or maybe a special occasion.

Why? Did you buy a thousand dollars of NASCAR merchandise with the
number 8 on it? :-)

NASCAR owns the car numbers, not the teams
They have looked the other way regarding the 3 not being used

The only way DEI can keep the 8 is if they field a team with it

As much as she wants to be spiteful that team, with an 8 would get so bood
so often no sponsor would put up with it

Not even Budwieser
The 3 is a good example
Plenty of new teams since 2001 and not one has requested the 3

And don't forget, Hendrick feels just as strong about the 5 as TE feels
about the 8
