Discounts on 2005's
Where I live ( metro Detroit area ) I'm seeing ads for 6 to 7 K off sticker
for 2005 coupes.....It has me wondering , are these vehicles selling slow ? Also has me wondering , should I trade in my 91 ragtop ( 19,000 miles ) and pop for a new one. |

Why spend the extra money when the C5 will fill the bill. You have one up with the C6 though, you don't have to have a front plate. How's that for forward looking design, leave out a descent place to mount a license plate, DOH. They over hyped the C6 and under designed it, sort of like throwing out a new color for the 50th anniversary, whoopeedoo. There wouldn't have been as many changes as there are except the had to kiss up to the Cadillac boys and their whinny needs. Don't sell the C5 short until you drive them, Grass Lake has a great dealer to deal with. They are now hyping the Z06 and I wonder how they will let the Corvette driver down on that one, one thing for sure they will price it out of sight. -- Dad 05 C6 Silver/Red 6spd Z51 72 Shark Black/Black/4spd |

Around WI, there are C6s everywhere. Most dealers have one and some
dealers have 3 or more. Do a search on the Chev website (Locate a Vehicle) for your area. At least in the snow country they aren't selling. Maybe they will start when the weather warms, but I don't think so. The C6 has some issues (dealer pricing, front license plate, nav system, and overbearing electronics) that I think are keeping people away. I'm keeping my C5 which, IMO, is just as good a car, if not better. I personally don't like the Viper-like looks and the smaller storage area (my wife goes along on most trips) of the C6. If you go from a '91 to an '05, you'll love it. It's a highly refined machine compared to the '91 but, if you can find a good used C5 you'll appreciate it just as well for a lot less money. 2001 and newer have the updated versions of traction control and engine management and have most of the small issues from the '98-'00s corrected. '01-'04 are basically the same car. (Why does your '91 have only 19,000 miles? These cars are made to be driven!) Said everyone wanted one before he got them, and now they don't...go figure. He has several. Not sure if he has started discounting yet or not. We just went from a 94 to a 2000...a much nicer vehicle IMO. |

Some days you get the bear, some days the bear gets you. ) ======================= I do not have any idea if the prices of the C5 have actually increased all I can say is that I, like you, expected the prices to be much lower BY this time... Wrong time of year around here to see any Corvettes on the road so I have no idea if the C6 is selling or not... Only seen one up close and personal and that one was parked outside a restraunt we ate at and had out of State plates on it... I wanted to add a C5 to my fleet (my wives term for my cars)... but the prices have not fallen enough for me to pull out the check book... NO "Need" for another but I will admit that I do have a "Want" .. lol Guess I will just hold off until spring hits and see what develops... Down here in Florida, where weather does not impact car sales at all, I have only seen perhaps half a dozen '05s on the road. I haven't stopped by any dealers, but I drive by one occasionally and I have seen an '05 or two actually parked outside (as opposed to in the showroom where they usually keep the cars that they only have one or two of). I had definitely been thinking that sales must be slow - either that or the production numbers are very low. Eric -- '74 Coupe 350 Automatic Black/Black |

Of course both were still on the lot and not sold so both could be over priced. -- Dad 05 C6 Silver/Red 6spd Z51 72 Shark Black/Black/4spd |
