Default 1994 Ford Explorer Alarm System

Hey all. I have recently bought a 1994 Ford Explorer XLT Limited. The
previous owner didn't provide the owner's manual and knew nothing about
the existing alarm system. It appears that the alarm system is factory
installed and uses a remote which is programmed by, among other things,
shorting a jumper in the left rear quarter panel. Upon opening the
unlocked driver's side door one day, the alarm triggered and sounded
for about 3 or 4 minutes. This was annoying, as I didn't know how to
shut it off. Does anyone know how to enter the different alarm modes
on this vehicle, if there are any? Note that how this is done is
different than the '95-98 models, which I've tried. Thanks in advance.

Try turning the key in either the passenger door or the rear door lock. In
my 94 ltd the driver's door electrical connection went byebye so the only
way to disarm it is in the other two doors.

Thanks for the advice. Any ideas about the different alarm modes?

My truck had a remote start added, but I believe the alarm is stock. If I
lock the doors with either the remote or the electric door button while the
doors are ajar, then close the doors, the alarm is armed. If the doors are
locked the same way but the doors are already closed, the alarm is not
armed. If the doors are locked by pushing the individual door locks down
manually instead of electrically, the alarm is not set whether the doors
were ajar or closed when the buttons are pushed down.
