LLB more prevalent in states with lower speed limits?
I just returned from a road trip to New Orleans. LLBs
seem to be less frequent in the South than in the Midwest. I wonder if it has to do with the higher interstate speed limit (70 mph vs 65) or, alternatively, with the higher levels of courtesy in the South compared to the Midwest. |

Besides cutural aspects, LLBing does seem to parallel lower speed limits. Especially the people from the higher speed limit states who take LLBing when they enter a state of lower speed limit. I don't know how well these observations hold true. It would take more cross country driving for me to know. |

The primary factor is that LLBs realize that by slowing down speeders, they make the highways safer for everyone. |

No. LLB blocking is a bad thing, even if the other driver is speeding.
It leads to people passing on the right, which is bad in itself. |

Hey Jim, every see that bumper sticker: "You know you're in Wyoming when you're doing 75 and someone is tailgaiting you!" My last drive across the country, I was on I-80 from Chicago to Portland. Did 85 the whole way; stayed in the left lane except to pass. Some jerks still tailgated me (in the right lane!) or pulled up to my left blind spot and matched speed. The only way to lose them was to pull over--they had to be either on my tail or in my left blind spot and speeding up/slowing down didn't deter them. I don't think it's regional. Some folks is just idjutz. |
