MFFY SUV'er
http://tinyurl.com/47dp2
The short of it, SUV'er runs a stop sign and hits motorcyclist, severely injuring him, and drives on as if nothing ever happened. |

For assault with a deadly weapon, leaving the scene of an accident,
possibly drunk driving, reckless driving, depraved indifference... In the Wash DC area, there are so many huge SUVs running around that smaller cars are outnumbered. Just trying to park at the local Safeway is getting dangerous, because backing out of a space when you've got these humongous trucks on either side of you is dangerous -- you can't see ANYTHING. When you're driving _behind_ them, or next to them (on a two-land road), you can't see through them to see what traffic is coming at you, if you're trying to make a turn -- alot like the idiots who have extremely dark tinting on their windows (which, all by itself, is almost begging the cops to "please, pull me over, I'm doing something illegal") The drivers are also dangerous, because they 1-- think they own the ****ing roads and everyone _else_ needs to get out of _their_ way. 2-- think they can drive the same way no matter what the weather has done to the driving conditions -- whether it's rain or snow, they think all they have to do is turn on the 4-wheel-drive and carry on at the same speed. Damn near every accident you see in Alexandria or on the local highways involves an SUV. One of the local APD lieutenants comes into where I work fairly regularly, and when I asked him about SUVs and their drivers (on a rain day), he practically went apoplectic. He said they're great when they're driven _SANELY_, but too many drivers don't think about how they drive. They somehow assume they're in the equivalent of a tank, and that no-one else on the road matters -- almost like they're in a video game where no-one else is real. So, yeah, this "accident" thing is serious. Leaving the scene of an accident is _always_ a felony, I believe. |

Let's be merciful and throw him in jail for a while. |

No one paid the newcomer much attention when he arrived, or when he left soon afterwards. Nor did anyone in the office make the connection between the mystery volunteer and 1,000 invitations on campaign stationery that began circulating in Chicago's red-light district and soup kitchens, promising "free beer, free food, girls and a good time for nothing" for all-comers at Dixon's headquarters. As political dirty tricks go, it was minor league. Hundreds of the city's heavy drinkers and homeless turned up at a smart Dixon reception looking for free booze. Dixon was embarrassed but the plot failed to stop his momentum: he was elected state treasurer and went on to become a senator. But the teenager who stole his letterheads, Karl Rove, has gone even further. This is who is in charge of the country...moral values.....riiiight! |
