Red light camera catches Darwin at work

Click on, "search," and use the term, "red light camera," and it should show a link to the video. Sorry for no direct link, bu I couldn't find a way to estract a direct link to the video. -- S&DDAM indicating that it runs red lights: "You're making a left turn right behind some semi or fedex or ups truck and you can't see the light but you follow the truck anyway while he slowly makes the left and when the light is finally visible to you it's red." --Speeders & Drunk Drivers Are MURDERERS, 8/8/07 Ref: http://tinyurl.com/26x4o2 Message ID: |

So much for the effectiveness of the red light camera preventing this sort of thing. Got a nice clear picture of what happened though. |

Neither SPEED NOR ALCOHOL were the cause of the accident? How can that be? |

As poorly as some RR crossings are in the US (i.e. the grade crossing is up to a foot or more higher than the highway), sidebarriers would cause a lot of trucks to get hung up on the tracks. Overall, though, IMO, if someone is stupid enough to drive up under a truck like that, they deserve what they get. -- necromancer Deadly Psychopath. And Proud of it, Man!! |

They are not that close to the ground in my memory, but it has been some years sinve I've been overseas or even looked at picture of a truck so equiped. Guess I'll go a googling... http://www.underridenetwork.org/Port...estCrash_1.jpg http://www.emercedesbenz.com/Images/...01006b1925.jpg > Overall, though, IMO, if someone is stupid enough to drive up under a > truck like that, they deserve what they get. Well I think they should be there because it's not always some idiot in the car that is the problem, but the trucker or a collision punts the car of someone entirely innocent under the semi. |

Guess I'll go a googling... It's not that they are necessarily close to the ground; it's just that in some locations the grade itself was either designed or fabricated by morons. Over the past 10 years or so, as time permits, they've been doing some clean up of the mess in this area, but as it is, we're not to the point where trucks can clear all our local crossings. >http://www.underridenetwork.org/Port...estCrash_1.jpg >http://www.emercedesbenz.com/Images/...01006b1925.jpg > >> Overall, though, IMO, if someone is stupid enough to drive up under a >> truck like that, they deserve what they get. > >Well I think they should be there because it's not always some idiot in >the car that is the problem, but the trucker or a collision punts the car >of someone entirely innocent under the semi. > -- Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people. - Admiral Hyman Rickover, U.S. Navy |

The cops are saying "driver inattention". Uhm, ya think?? If this mope ever drives again, I'm SURE he'll be looking out for red lights AND large trucks - as he should've been doing in the frickin' FIRST place. John B. |
