Default Wiper blades

I see Advanced Auto has 25% off blades. I want a good set. The last
pair came from Wal-Mart and they were not very good quality.
What blades does the crowd go with?

I go with Bosch. But, since I use rain-x, the wipers aren't used much.

As Arif said, Bosch wipers and RainX solution are a great combination.

Bosch are the best wipers I have used by far. Then I found RainX which
helps water run off the windscreen faster, reducing the need for wipers
in light rain.

Bosch Microedge. The best out there, IMO. Reminds me I need to change
the wipers on my car before Tuesday....

Is there anything better than Bosch on the market? How about those
silicone blades? Bosch don't seem to last a full year for me before
they take a set and start streaking.

thanks,

nate

I change wiper blades twice a year. Either Bosch or Michelin (repackaged
Bosch, I suspect). beginning of winter and again at begining of summer. Blades
are cheap, and I like to be able to see...

I've been getting a couple-three years out of Bosch blades on the
mustang. First bought them when their book said to use a longer blade for
the driver's side and a shorter one for the passenger side. That worked a
lot better than stock. Since then they've gone to just having the stock
size in the book so I have to measure my old ones to remember what sizes
to buy.

Wal-Mart sells both crappy blades and good blades. I've been using
Anco blades forever and they work just fine for me. Blades don't so
much wear out as they deteriorate due to UV and air pollution and need
to be replaced twice a year. Silicone blades may be more resistant to
that, I don't know.

For any blade to work best they have to "drag" the water off, not
"push" it. Make sure they are 90 degrees to the glass and they'll
pivot in the frame as they change direction. You can twist the arm
using a decent-sized crescent wrench (or two) to achieve the 90 degree
angle.

Rain-X is great but under certain lighting conditions can cause
reflections that just "white-out" your view. I felt it was a little
too much trouble to re-apply it every month for the little time it
spent "working"... or maybe I just got too lazy.

What I do is take a paper towel, and spray a bunch of glass cleaner on
it and the blades. Then I wipe the blades down several times. It works
quite well IME.

I just wish they still supplied the Bosch refills. The last time I had
to replace my wipers, it took me several hours to find a place selling
the refills. At least I purchased 3 sets.
