It starts you out in 3rd gear, reducing wheelspin at slow speeds.

If it's a ZF 5 speeder, it gives a second gear start in drive. But also
when you select a gear manually it stays in that gear - no over-ride. So
you can start in 4th if you want.

Depends on the box. In mine it is definitely 3rd (out of 5).

Works too.
