Sportwagon 2.4 JTD
Hi,
I'm about to try a 2001 Sportwagon 2.4 JTD for a possible buy. I've had two Alfas earlier (a 90 2.0 and a 164 3.0), and I've driven a Selespeed, but I've no experience with the diesel versions. Any advice about this car. I've seen the 2.4 advertised with 136, 140 and 150 hp, and of course the new multijet with 175 hp. What is the difference 136/140/150. Any experience with chip tuning on these engines? The car has about 100 000 km on the clock, but the engine was replaced after about 90 000 km, why i don'y know. Any helpful advices about these cars are very welcome Morten |

136/140/150 HP all are the same engines, just different motormanagement
Chiptuning to 175-190HP / ~400NM is feasable when done by "real" tuners; there are only a few out there!! The multi jet is a real step forward, easily tuned to 200-215HP/~450NM Basically all Alfa engines are very reliable with (normal) incidents. Only thing that puzzles me is the "replaced" engine. Is it new? Or used and then how old, how many km's??? And, what happened to the old one to need a new engine? Is the cause of the damage still in the car?? (radiator/thermostat/turbo/motormanagement/inter-cooler?) 90.000km's is a very low amount for an engine to be worn. 200.000km should be an absolute minimum as "life-end". 250.000/300.000km's are absolutely "normal". In respect to non-engine parts, check for worn front wishbone rubbers and front wheel alignment, typical for 156. For the rest (because of the 100.000km's): check the shock absorbers and the brake discs/pads -- Ciao from Holland AlfistaGJ (Gert-Jan) Alfa red 156 SW 1.8 Madeno tuned (2000) Golden Montreal 1428700 (1973/4) "Morten Fossum" > schreef in bericht ... > Hi, > > I'm about to try a 2001 Sportwagon 2.4 JTD for a possible buy. Thanks,
I'll check the history. The seller claims he's got full service history and hopefully this include also some information about what happened to the original engine. The replaced engine is said to be brand new.
