03' Silverado 4x w/ 255/75R-16's and No Lift?
I want to get some ground clearance, but I'm not willing to spend $1800
minimum for a 4" lift. There is no smaller lift. I don't need a big flotation tire for sand or mud, I just want clearance for rocks on fire trails. The tire guys say I can replace my 245/75R-16's (30.7" tall by 9.8" wide)with 265/75R-16's (31.9" tall and 10.5" wide). But he didn't know about 255/75R-16's (33.3" tall by 10" wide). The 255/75R-16's would actually be a bit wider, and a lot taller. Any idea if they are going to fit? |

I believe that the 265/75R16's are wider and taller than the 255/75R16's.

With a width of 265, a 75 aspect ratio would put the height at 198.75. (Note this is just the sidewall height and obviously not overall diameter.) Matt 99 V-10 Super Duty, Super Cab 4x4 |

Correct, the sizes are as follows:
P265/75 R16 Tread Width = 10.4" Diameter = 31.6" P255/75 R16 Tread Width = 10.0" Diameter = 31.1" My 1999 Z71 came with the P265/75 R16 as standard so I would imagine they'll fit an 03'. Hi,
BFG has a size 255/85 R16 that's a bit over 33" It's a tall/narrow tire; it comes in the Mud-Terrain tread. Had 'em on my 94 f250 with no mods, other than the bumper ground & shimmed forward. The 255/85R-16's (usually only used on Dualies) are the 3.3" tall by 10" wide I was meaning to talk about. The width shouldn't be an issue, only the height might be an issue on a unlifted truck. And probably only an issue on the front. Anyone put those on a 1/2 ton 03' or up Silverado? > width/heightRimsize > > "RWC" > wrote in message > news:Fic%b.4368$Zp.1431@fed1read07... > >>I want to get some ground clearance, but I'm not willing to spend $1800 >>minimum for a 4" lift.
