Default 2001 SL2 Bad Quill Bearing - no help from the Dealer

2.5 month ago I bought a used Saturn SL2 (30,000 miles when bought). A
week ago I noticed that the clutch seemed to slip under acceleration.
Took the car back to the dealer and was told that "Quill bearing
leaked, ruined the clutch" - $1800. I have only driven the car 2850
miles since I bought it from the dealer, however CT lemon law only
forces the dealer to cover the car for 3000 miles or 60 days - I am on
day 72. The dealer doesnt want to do anything to help (well, actually -
they said, they will "think about it"). My question is can I do
anything ? Call the factory, the rep ? Have people seen this type of
failure so early ?

Didn't the car have a new car 3 year/36k mile warranty when originally sold
new? Are you sure that has expired from the original sale date?

3 yr has passed (this is 2001 car). The dealer checked. No warranty. I
called Saturn customer assistance, they said they will "try to help"
....
