Hoping that someone will have some info for my son who recently received a
vehicle from his grandmother and is trying to fix it up. It has a slight
wiring problem... when you try to start the pickup the horn honks. Is it
improper to request a wiring schematic for this vehicle? He doesn't have
much money to try to get an owners manual or a Chilton's manual, and he is
desperately trying to work on it today. Any help would be GREATLY
appreciated.

Thanks so much

Have you tried a local library? The should have a selection of manuals
on it unless it is a very small library.

The Cherokee Haynes manual is cheap (in the $20.00 range) and halfway
decent.

The only connection I know between the horn and the starter is an
aftermarket alarm which will not be covered in any manual. If it has an
old alarm in it, getting that out would be the first thing to do.

If the horn goes off when the steering is turned, then a bushing inside
might be bad. If that was the case, I would put a push button horn in
vs tearing the column down although a used column is common enough
seeing as all the full sized GM's use the same Saganaw column.
