At least it looks like he was out at the far edge of a parking lot.

Is that the case?

I've seen that twice in the last week or so.

I can kind of justify that... that looks like a crew cab truck, the
driver may have thought that it would stick out too far if he parked
straight in.

I've taken up as many as 6 or 7 spaces before, but that's in a similar
truck with a car trailer on the back

Looks that way to me - assuming the lot isn't regularly over-crowded
he doesn't deserve any abuse.

Yup - you see a lot of that. People taking up two parking spaces just
so their car won't get scratched. That's why i always carry a caltrop
on me, to stick under one of their wheels. Take some change out of my
pocket and "accidentally" drop a quarter and place the caltrop while
picking up the q. HAHAHAHA

Considering how many people slam their car doors into my car, taking 2
spaces (only if way,way out) seems reasonable.
My car is not someone else's doorstop.

Some vehicles contact my car well above the door bumpers.I've got some
really nasty dents from them. That's property damage, and solely due to
their negligence.
