'05 Golf test drive...
HI All, So I've got the fever for a new VW TDI. I went and test drove one
saturday, it was really cool. The salesman tried to demo the sunroof, and said "the fuse must be blown". I went back today (wednesday), and the roof actuator motor was laying in the front seat. Fuse panel was pulled off too. I'm trying to ignore the posts on myvwlemon.com, but am starting to have second thoughts about buying one....suggestions? |

That's what warranty is for to take care of issues like that. Also consider
VW owners who don't have problems or mind spending some $$$ will NEVER post negative comments. I bet you can't fine one positive message at "myvwlemon.com" VW does resale cars that were "buy backs" and guess what... the new owners almost never have the issue that the car was bought back for! At least that's what I have seen, but that's my opinion "Shwackman" > wrote in message ... > HI All, So I've got the fever for a new VW TDI. I went and test drove one > saturday, it was really cool. Sunroof isn't a common problem at all tho... I went to buy sunroof parts for
my Golf (installing the lighted controller from a Passat W8) and they were completely unfamiliar with the whole sunroof system it seemed... The guy said no one typically has a problem with them or wants to change out those components. "Shwackman" > wrote in message ... > HI All, So I've got the fever for a new VW TDI. Spare AMM(or whatever the part is that routinely fails in the trunk) No sunroof. No power anything. Lots of happy memories |

At least get power locks... having to reach over and pull peoples door
handles to unlock them (and having to remind everyone to lock up... and coming back to a car with one rear door still open because someone can't remember to hit the lock) is the biggest annoyance I have with my fathers Golf CL (only thing power is the steering in it... 2003 model)... My GLS is a huge step up in terms of equipment. We didn't have power anything in our 1991 Golf (probably a CL... tho not sure the exact model) and it didn't seem so bad, but it fit with the age and style of the car... Not having some nice features really detract from the car. With all the stuff my GLS has, nothing's broken on it so far (window clips did when the PO had the car) - I use the heated seats every day unless its hot out, I run the A/C all the time in the summer, No problems with the power steering, sunroof works great, electric windows are working good even tho I force the motors on them to open them up when they freeze shut in the winter, power gas cap release works without a hitch, power door locks never failed, same goes for the trunk release.... This is all pretty tried and true technology here, even VW can't screw it up... Going for the stripper model may have been good advice in the 80's, but not so much anymore... even the cheapest cars can come with power locks/windows.
