No more ticket signing
Effective today in the state of WA people will not have to sign
tickets. The WSP has had several instances of officers getting hit in the past few months while talking to drivers. A minor change in regulations and they did away with the requirements to have the tickets signed. The officers will stampt the ticket "copy given to above person". Failure to pay or contact the court will be a misdemeanor - same as failing to appear was in the past after signing. The reason given was to expedite the process and shorten the time officers and drivers are exposed on the side of the road. I was a surprise to the local LEOs at the weekly BS session for breakfast yesterday. Harry K |

This law is almost universally ignored. -- John Carr ) |

That it also makes it easy for a cop to fabricate a ticket without chance of detection is of course not a consideration. -- There's no such thing as a free lunch, but certain accounting practices can result in a fully-depreciated one. |
