Default Car for sale

Some time ago I sold my 33 16valve cloverleaf to a mate .
I loved it - but I had to part with one of my cars to make room for a 1750
GTV. Anyway - it `s clutch went almost immediately so I helped out with that
and more recently it failed it`s MOT because of widespread ( but almost
invisible ) rust in the floorpan , and a serious fault with the brakes..
To the point. It`s all been professionaly fixed and it now has a full MOT. I
know this car - it`s a cracker , but he`s selling it to recoup the price of
the repairs . The least I can do is try to sell it for him.
So - one Black 33 Cloverleaf 16 valve. The only rust is ,as usual ,
appearing over the filler cap . Apart from a couple of small dents and some
hard to spot damage to the sill covers which would be easy to repair , it`s
absolutely immaculate. Inside and out. It has Eibach springs all round , a
cold air feed to the induction and I think it`s been chipped. Not sure about
that , but it`s very quick . 80.000 miles but the engine was rebuilt at 20
odd thousand . It has a new clutch , new leads , new plugs ,
and the back brakes are fully rebuilt.
He wants £1000 for it and it`s worth it. Alternatively give me £1800 for my
almost perfect 2000 GTV and I`ll have the 33 back with pleasure!
Sorry this is so long.
Phil

For a less than perfect 33 16v?

Don't take this the wrong way, but surely you're having a laugh?

I wouldn't be having a laugh if I had to pay £1000 for a 16v 33 that'd gone
as far as having rust over the filler cap.

£500 at the most, and them only if the engine & gearbox were good.

Possibly. I honestly don`t know how much it`s worth and
wouldn`t want to offend anyone - or rip them off for that matter. However -
it is in remarkably good nick overall with no hidden faults whatsoever
and I would expect anyone interested to make their own judgement. I know
it`s a lot - but it may draw an offer he
would accept .I promised him I`d put it out there ,optimistic price and
all - but Steve`s response is pretty well what I`d expected.
