Default Renault Megane Cabriolet - Fitting new Hydraulic cables for electric hood

Does anyone out there know how replace the hydraulic cables that power
the hood up and down?
The compressor unit is in the boot and various hydraulic cables are connected
to it. I have 2 new cables (at some exhorbitant cost from Renault - 127 pounds
sterling !) as one of the old cables sprung a leak.
But I can't figure how to remove the old cables from the compressor unit.

The other end of the cables don't present a problem as they connect to the ram
with nuts.

But, the compressor end is mysterious to me.
Perhaps it's a simple twist that's needed with pliers but I don't want to
try this and end up breaking something.
By the way, the model year is 1998 and it's a 2.0 litre sports.
Thanks,
Shaun.
