BMW Z3 2.8 Key type?

Hi,

Can someone please tell me whether the standard key for a circa 1998 BMW Z3
2.8 convertible is an "all-in-one" with the button for the alarm part of the
actual key?

Some 7-series BMWs have this "all-in-one" key, and some have seperate alarm
buttons.

If they don't come as standard, how easy is it to get one for my (future)
car?

Please advise.

The key for my '97 2.8 just has a light. You have to use the key in the
lock to engage/disengage the alarm.

Do a Google groups search for: z3 alarm remote. Then sort by date and
you'll see a recent thread discussing the Z3 alarm system, and adding a
remote.
