Too quick on the draw. I went to log in the new groups today and poof
nothing worked. Called the ISP and they said I should have gotten an email with a new log on info. I asked how are they going to send me an email since they are not in my address book? They said they cannot so I asked for a particular address and they said they have several, scratching my head Catch-22. Well, I guess I will have to do it the old fashioned way when stuff breaks and get on the land line. Not to get to far off topic my son is on leave with his 97 TJ his wife bought him as a welcome home gift from Iraq. He will be camping on Assategue Inland for a few of days and left the grand kids with the elbow relations. This week end we all will be heading up to West By God Virginia for some off road fun and a good time will be had by all. -- Coasty SEMPER PARATUS (ALWAYS READY) Remove The SPOOGE To Reply "Coasty" > wrote in message ... > > > -- > Coasty > SEMPER PARATUS > (ALWAYS READY) > > Remove The SPOOGE To Reply > |

Coasty,
It is a screwed up situation. It just goes to show that a lot of planning is involved when changing things at an ISP. One small setting can affect thousands of people. They (Comcast) should have a way to bypass the senders list to make sure you get important emails from them, just for occasions as this. Here is the text of the email they sent out that basically says that after switching to Giganews from a service they provided on their own they are now going back to their own news server again. Shawn -------------------------------------- Dear Comcast Newsgroup Customer, As you may already know, Comcast has recently upgraded our Newsgroup service offering. Now you get a total of two gigabytes of downloads each month (previously one gigabyte) and headers are not counted towards your download totals. With this latest upgrade we are also changing the method you will use to sign in to Comcast Newsgroups. The log in credentials assigned by Giganews (user name begins with the letters "cc") will be disabled after July 15th, 2005. What do you need to do? To continue using Comcast's Newsgroup service, you must change your newsreader settings. The correct settings are as follows: News Server (NNTP): newsgroups.comcast.net User name: your full Comcast.net Primary email address* (example: ) Password: your Comcast.net password *Not sure of your Primary user name? Click here A step by step FAQ for setting up Outlook Express as your newsreader can be found here, or you can use a One Click Fix to set up your account. Thank you Comcast High-Speed Internet |
