Default central locking stopping working...

.... suddenly. The only thing which works, when I press the button in
the keyring is the light, which still blinks, once or twice, as
before. The doors', as well as the boot locks don't lock nor unlock.

Any idea where I should look at for a start?

156 2.5v6 2001.

Silly question, but have you tried changing the battery in the key? I think
the range in mine is progressively going down, perhaps due to this. What
happens when you open the door manually with the key?

No I have'nt try that, but I will. I had no obvious reason, though,
since the lights react as before. The difference is simply that the
locks don't react.

I didn't notice anything like this. It worked normally, I drove 15
min, then it stopped working.

Flipflops> What happens when you open the door manually with the key?

I only tried opening manually the driver door. It unlocks (!). But the
other doors don't. Should they? I don't hear any "unlocking" whir as
before. Does this anwer your question?

Tx for your answer.

In my 156 all 4 doors unlocks when I manually opening front left door.
There is problem with CL electricity, maybe fuse is dead, or some wire is
unpluged?

Every half a year or so this happens to mine too. Just open the driver door
with the key the all the other doors from the inside. After that it works
again for another half a year.

Another reason might be that you are in a place with a lot of radio
frequencies or other electromagnetic noise....

Martin

Actually, I got the problem fixed by simply opening the passenger door
from the inside. After that, no problem. So far.

It looks like the locking system does not "know" if the car is locked
or not once in a while and does not do anything. Opening manually the
passenger door may have "reset" it. Or it may be a coincidence, and I
got an electrical disfunction...

Not that I know, but this is not to exclude.

Tx, Martin!

Hi,

I have a 33 that blows it's fuse every so often when the central locking
gets a bit sticky. Might be worth looking at.

Also had a fuse for air conditioning fan in the 155 go intermittent.
Fine when it was cold but as soon as it warmed up the fan stopped again.

So anything is possible :-)
