MAF issues
I was going to take my MAF off and clean it today. However, both star
screws have a plastic coating that is proving to be very difficult to remove without damaging the head of the screw. '98 Mountianeer, 5.0, AWD. Any suggestions? Thanks, Steve |

Bob, Ulysses, thanks for the response.
Any idea why the tamper proof plastic was put there in the first place? Are you using a Torx T20 bit with a hole in the center?

Thanks for the response Al, yes, I am using the correct bit.
My problem being, I can't clean the damn plastic out of the head to insert the screwdriver. I think small needle nosed vice grips will probably be the correct answer to this problem. I used an awl to scrape out the plastic filling, then just used the appropriate security bit. |
