my 84 prelude runs fine at high rpm's, just wont run at an idol "duel
carbs"

I didn't know your carbs had an idol. Is it a Polynesian fertility goddess?
And why are they dueling? Did one insult the other?

Check for dirt in the idle jets and in the float bowls. Then check for air
leaks.
